Gazetted status to PGT teachers soon:CM

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: Chief Minister Pema Khandu assured teachers of the state that his announcement during Teacher's Day to grant Group B gazetted status to PGT teachers serving in government schools will be fulfilled soon.

A notification in this regard will be released after discussion with the Education Minister, Pema told a five-member delegation of Arunachal Teachers' Association (ATA), which called on him Saturday afternoon and submitted a copy of the memorandum with demands earlier submitted to the Education Minister.

Pema assured ATA that all its demands will be discussed at appropriate levels and the government will take positive action soon. He urged the teachers to be sincere in imparting quality education to students and dedicate themselves to make a better Arunachal.

He also said the state government will soon rationalize the posting of teachers in the state.

ATA memorandum includes demands for complete bifurcation of Elementary and Secondary Education department in the district and block levels, fast-tracking of promotional process of teachers of all categories and early release of pending salaries of SSA, RMSA and KGBV teachers.

Initiate strict action against defaulters: Taloh

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: Cautioning the Apex Bank from high Non-Performing Assets (NPA) position, Minister, Industries and Cooperation etc., Tapang Taloh has called for initiating stringent action against the defaulters for recovery of the overdue loan accounts by constant persuasions with Certificate Officers.

Taloh was speaking at the state level review meeting of Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Apex bank held at Administrative Training Institute, Naharlagun on Saturday.

The Minister also advised the Branch Managers to submit the defaulter's list directly to him for persuasion of the matter with concerned DCs for effective recovery of NPA loans. He proposed to initiate awards to best performing Branch Managers in the coming financial years.

Interacting with the Branch Managers whose branches were incurring loss, the Minister also directed to find best possible way for turning the branch to a profit making branch in the coming years.

While appealing the Branch Managers to work hard and bring back the lost glory of Arunachal Pradesh State Coop. Apex Bank Ltd, Taloh also suggested them to keep good relation with the local administration, panchayat leaders, MLAs and business community to enhance the deposit base of the bank branches and extend good customer services.

Further, the Minister also assured to initiate for early construction of a Head Office building of the bank within the financial year.

The meeting was attended by the Branch Managers of the Apex Bank Ltd and senior officers from the Head Office.

Literary events mark the second day of Mega Solung

PASIGHAT, Sept 10: Pasighat Mega Solung Literary Committee hosted Popular talk/lectures by Padmashree Mamang Dai and Former APPSC member, Jathi Pulu here today at the auditorium of JNC campus.

Padmashree Mamang Dai while terming the "stories", the oral narratives of the tribal society as one of the important cultural link of a society said that a commonly shared oral tradition gives them their cultural Identity. She was delivering discourse on "In search of Abotani, Cultural Narrative and Identity".

Further referring to the impact of the oral traditions like the Aabangs and stories of the Engo Takar on the Adi society, she opined that the value system that is embedded in our folk culture shape us, throw light on the whole story of our civilisation.

At the same time, culture is ever evolving and also an exchange process, she opined. While we forge ahead and move ahead with modern times in a global society, we also need to remain connected with our cultural roots.

On the occasion she also read out excerpts from one of her short stories, "the Booking Counter" which is her take on the current Bandh Culture.

She also called upon the young generation that education should help them broaden their horizon and urged them to keep alive their independent thinking.

Earlier, Jathi Pulu, while speaking on the theme, "Polarization of the society in context of Arunachal Pradesh", said that mutual understanding of people and communities is necessary for maintaining and promoting peace and harmony. He called upon the young generation to play a vital role in promoting unity and oneness. Pulu also called for responsible use of social media.

Among those present on the occasion were Lok Sabha MP, Ninong Ering, Information Commissioner, Nanom Jamoh, former Minister Bosiram Siram, Literrateur Kaling Borang, faculty members of JNC, the student community of JNC and various schools.

Padmashree Dai and Pulu also gave away prizes for various literary events. Tarem Mibang from Doying Gumin College, Tomo Koyu, JNV,Pasighat, Thomas Koyu from JNV won the first, second and third place respectively in the clay modelling competition.

In Essay Writing, Madhan Raj NM from KV pasighat, Khusbu Kumari from DIET, Pasighat and Ijum Badak from D.Ering College for Teacher Education,Psg, Untimiri Ezing, KV Pasighat won the first, second and third position respectively.

In photography, Biswadeep Ramchary from KV, Pasighat, Nangki Pangkak, D. Ering Govt, Memeorial School,Psg, snatched the first and second place, while the third place was shared by Jomge Jini, Apex Professional University, Rahul Upadhyay, KV, Pasighat. In quiz competition, the team members of the winning team are Oyi Taki, Tenita Boje, Andy Tasing and Nonong Tekseng representing Apex Professional University, while Bharat Gao, MJ P Pajing, Otil Pum and Yang Jerang were the teem members of the second prize and the team from Govt. Arunachal to host North-East Butterfly Meet

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: Arunachal Pradesh will host the North-East Butterfly Meet, 2016 at picturesque Ziro from September 16 to 19.

Prominent resource persons, including James Young of Hongkong, Kishen Das of USA, Isaac KePRESShimkar and Subhalaxmi of Bombay Natural History Society, Mumbai are expected to participate in the meet.

Scholars from organizations, like Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment (ATREE) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) are also expected to attend it.

The event is being co-organized by Butterflies and Moths of Sikkim (BAMOS), North East Indian Butterflies Group and NgunuZiro supported by Lower Subansiri District Administration, Forests and Environment Department and Tourism Department of the district.

Meanwhile, NgunuZiro held meeting on Saturday to review the preparedness for the event which is being organized in the state for the time.

Since the last 3 years, NgunuZiro has been organizing Ziro Butterfly Meet with great success. Photography of rare and exotic species like Kaiser-e-Hind, Bhutan Glory and Brown Gorgon in Ziro valley had catapulted the place in the butterfly map of the world.

A typical sight in all towns of Arunachal Pradesh is that almost all shops are manned by non natives. Grocery stores, readymade garment shops, gift shops, stationary shops, shoe shops are all manned by non natives. Chemists, hardware shops, motor spare parts shops are also manned by non natives. Fruit shops, vegetable shops, meat shops are also manned by non natives. Staff of hotels and restaurants are also mostly non natives.

Most major dealerships/ distributorships are with non natives. Wholesale supply of vegetables, fruits, eggs, poultry, fish, potato etc are controlled by non natives.

There are a few rare exceptions. A few natives are stepping into few fields like mobile networks, vehicle dealership etc. Local vegetables, some meat shops are slowly being manned by natives. In localised areas, very few small grocery shops/ gift shops are gradually being manned by natives.

Most skilled personnel like mechanics, electricians, plumbers, construction mishtries, barbers are also non natives. To build houses, to build boundary walls/ fences, to repair cycles, motorcycles, scooties, cars, trucks, buses, autos, TVs, refrigerators, dish TV sets etc we rely on non natives.

In most cases, the licences are with natives, but the ventures are being managed/run by non natives. That means the real skill or learning or managing of the venture is by the non natives. That also means that the majority profit is being made by them.

So what could be the repercussions? Every time we pay for groceries, gifts, clothes, fish, eggs etc majority of the payments are channelized back to their home states/ home towns. Every time we pay for services like mishtries, electricians, plumbers, mechanics etc a major portion of the fees paid by us are sent back to respective home states/ home towns. Many of them have become rich and have invested most of the money outside our state.

If we ourselves start manning shops, start working as mishtries, electricians, plumbers, mechanics etc, the money paid for items/ services would remain circulated inside the state. This money can directly contribute to the development of the state.

With development, many new projects/ ventures are starting up in the state. There is an increasing demand for qualified professionals like Chartered Accountants, Architects, Bank Empanelled Lawyers, Certified Valuators etc. It is high time some natives start taking up these jobs.

We must realise that instead of remaining unemployed, it is better to start doing all kinds of jobs ourselves. There are many free lance electricians, mishtries, etc who are earning decent money by working in new houses, buildings and projects. Many of our youth may lead decent and comfortable lives by gradually taking over these roles.

To develop as a robust and economically self reliant society, we should inculcate dignity of labour and DO IT OURSELVES!

CM exhorts youth to grab the opportunity of IAF recruitment rally

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: Chief Minister Pema Khandu exhorted all eligible youths, especially those unemployed, to take full advantage of the proposed Air Force Airmen recruitment rallies in the state next month.

The Indian Air Force is conducting two separate Airmen recruitment rallies to select candidates for Airmen Group 'X' (Technical) and Group 'Y' (Non-Technical) jobs at Itanagar on October 1 at Tezu on October 5.

Terming the rallies as an opportunity to serve in the elite Indian Air Force, Pema underscored the importance of wide publicity of the rallies through local media and radio well in advance besides coordinating with the local administrations to attract participation of maximum number of youths.

The chief minister assured Squadron Leader VPV Baliga, Commanding Officer, 11 Airmen Selection Center of the Indian Air Force of the state government's full support and cooperation for conduction of the proposed rally.

While expressing gratitude to IAF on behalf of the people, Pema requested for recruitment of maximum number of youths of the state in the force.

Highlighting the salient features of the rally, the Commanding Officer informed that there is no vacancy limitation. However, the selection will be on purely merit and performance basis. (PRO, CM)

AEKSU draws attention towards poor condition of educational scenario in EK

ITANAGAR, Sept 10: The All East Kameng Students' Union (AEKSU) has drawn the attention of state government towards deplorable condition of educational institutes in its district.

In its representation to the education minister, it informed that many schools in the district are on the verge of breaking down due to insufficient facilities.

'Students are reluctant to go to schools as there are no desks or benches or even blackboards', it claimed.

The union attributed poor condition of teachers' quarters to the problem of absentee teachers in the district.

Calling for posting adequate teaching and non-teaching staffs, it said that the main reason behind poor performance of its students in the CBSE exams is because g lack of subject teachers.

AEKSU also expressed displeasure over the teachers getting transferred from the district without any reliever.

Till today, 120 teachers have been transferred from the district without any relievers, it claimed.

The union further sought immediate posting of teaching and non-teaching staffs in Govt College, Seppa and called for introducing more subjects saying that only six subjects are being offered in the college.

Supporting the demands, the four elected representatives of the district have also written to the education minister seeking improvement of education scenario in the district.

Student-led seminars at Saint Claret College

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: One of the student-centric best practices of Saint Claret College-student-led seminars-were concluded on Saturday. The Departmental Seminars were held in two phases, the first on August 20 and the second on September 10. The unique feature of the current year was the concurrent seminar sessions from which students could choose to attend the one of their interest. In each phase, four departments held their seminars.

In the first phase, the departments of Economics & Commerce, English, Geography, and History held their seminars on the themes, Banking in India, Post-colonialism, Socio-economic status of Lower Subansiri District, and Socio-cultural life of the Apatani tribe respectively. The Department of English creatively presented a short play on the post-colonial novel, Heart of Darkness. In the second phase held today, the topics presented were: RTE: Perspectives and challenges (Education), Anthropology in Arunachal Pradesh: Prospects and challenges (Anthropology), Impact of social media (Mass Communication), and Fundamental rights: A critical study (Political Science).

Each seminar was presided over by a faculty from a related department, who delivered the key note address and feedback on student presentations.

A total of 22 papers were presented by 42 students over the two phases. Each paper was of 15 minutes duration, and was followed by 10 minutes of Q & A. It was a unique day the undergraduate students turned teachers and research scholars, giving themselves a foretaste of the rigors and joys of an academic career, whereas the rest of the students had an experience of learning from their peers.

Assam Don Bosco University hosts its Fifth Convocation

13 students from Arunachal awarded degrees

GUWAHATI, Sept 10: 13 students from Arunachal Pradesh were conferred degrees in various disciplines in the Fifth convocation of the Assam Don Bosco University at its Azara campus here on Saturday. Altogether 648 students were conferred degrees, of which 172 students received the degree of Bachelor of Technology, 31 Master of Technology, 54 Master of Social Work, 23 Master of Computer Applications, 37 Master of Business Administration, 10 MA in Psychological Counseling, 9 MA in Human Rights, 11 MA in Mass Communication, 11 MA in Education and 16 students received M.Sc. in Physics.

Doctoral degrees were conferred to 7 scholars. Gold Medals under various categories were awarded to 13 outstanding graduates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average in each program. The Chancellor's medal has been awarded for outstanding performance during Post Graduation to Kangkana Barman of the department of social work and the Vice Chancellor's medal has been awarded for outstanding performance during Graduation to Ankita Patowary of the department of Civil Engineering, for their notable and exceptional contributions to campus life.

A total of 267 students from around 37 countries graduated in various disciplines through Don Bosco Global centre of Online and Distance Education. There was also one student each from Maldives and Myanmar who received Masters Degree in Education during the convocation.

Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal was present on the occasion.

Capital Complex lift Mega Solung Football Trophy

PASIGHAT, Sept 10: Capital Complex Football Club lifted the Mega Solung Football Trophy defeating Bogong Soccer Club 3-2 in the final at JN College playground here on Saturday.

Dungda Pui gave Capital Complex the early lead by scoring in 14th minutes. He added another goal in 30th minutes (2-0).

BSC stung by early two goals intensified attack at CCFC goal. The team opened their goal account in 38th through a goal from Kamin Darin (1-2).

CCFC was leading BSC 2-1 at halftime.

BSC made desperate efforts to find the equalizer in the second half and finally restored parity in 71st minute through goal from Rokom Tasung (2-2).

Stunned by the equalizer, CCFC went all out and scored a goal through Gakir Dolum in third minutes of the extra time which ultimately turned out to be the match winner.

The match went to extra time after both the teams were tied 2-2 at regulation time.

The winning team was awarded cash prize of Rs Two lakhs along with the coveted trophy. The cash prize was sponsored by Nabam Tullon, LLP Nirjuli, Papum Pare district while the Trophy was contributed by Pasighat East MLA cum Mega Solung Core Committee Chairman Kaling Moyong.

The runners up team was awarded cash prize of Rs One lakh sponsored by KNR Construction Ltd, a Hyderabad based company working in Arunachal Pradesh.

Gante Chapa of Capital Complex was declared best player of the match.

The final match was witnessed by Mising Autonomous Council (Assam) Chairman, Parmananda Cahyengia (Pangging), Mising Baane Kebang Secretary Girin Morang, who gave away the trophy and cash prizes to the winners and runners up teams.

Display of Military Band by the jawans of 103 Infantry Brigare of Rayang Military Station was the special attraction of the closing programme.

Altogether, 11 teams participated the tournament.

6th State Weightlifting Championship begins

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: The two days 6th State Weightlifting Championship- 2016 organized by Arunachal Weightlifting Association (AWA) began at Sports Authority of India (SAI), Special Area Game Centre, Naharlagun on Saturday.

Forty-one lifters--both boys and girls--from various districts are participating in various weight categories in the championship.

The brief inaugural function was attended by Director Sports Tadar Appa, Joint Director Youth Affairs Ramesh Linggi, Assistant Commandant of 138th Bn. CRPF MS Alam, Assistant Director Youth Affairs Karbia Dodum, Information Commissioner Mathem Lingi, among others.

Director Sports Appa, in his brief speech, gave emphasis on the identification and grooming of talented players at tender age. He appreciated AWA for organizing the State level championship, wherein many young players are participating with great enthusiasm.

Later, he declared the tournament open.

AWA President Abraham K. Techi appealed to the State Government for allocation of certain amounts under AOP to all the affiliated sports bodies to conduct such State Level championships instead of piecemeal basis.

The State level championships serve as the main entry door to national and higher level of completions, he said, while narrating the financial hardships faced by all the sports bodies the state in conducting such championships.

Explaining the role of coaches in honing the skills and abilities of players, Abraham also urged the government to provide sufficient coaches of national and international standard for different sports disciplines to improve the performance of the players.

AWA general secretary Daniel Teli highlighted the achievements of lifters of the state at national and international level competitions.

On the occasion, AWA founder member TN Bori was felicitated in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the growth and development of the sport of weightlifting in Arunachal Pradesh since 1994. He was also made life-time advisor of AWA.

NSCN (K) cadre nabbed

CHANGLANG, Sept 10: Security forces nabbed a hardcore NSCN (K) cadre from Malugaon in the wee hours of September 10.

Acting on specific input, a column of Assam Rifles apprehended the cadre of the banned outfit, who has been identified as SS Sgt Major Asen Hakun.

A China made pistol with 5 live rounds were recovered from the cadre who claims to have joined the outfit in September, 2002. DIPRO

Arunachalee troupe perform in MP

ITANAGAR, Se 10: A-10 member group of artiste led by Olen Megu from Sanskar Bharati Arunachal Pradesh participated at Ganesh Utsav programme 'AyudhaKa Raja' in Indore, Madhya Pradesh recently.

The artiste team presented folk and traditional dance programme which enthralled the huge gathering presence on the occasion.

Olen Megu, Adviser to Sanskar Bharati also delivered a speech on rich cultural heritage of state.

The main motto of the programme was promote traditional culture, cultural integration, tourism and rich cultural heritage of North East in the others parts of country.

IRBN personnel’s wife reacts at ITW's statement.

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: Reacting to the press statement of Itanagar Traffic Warden (ITW) regarding alleged assault of a Traffic Warden on duty by an IRBn personnel near Itanagar Police Station junction at Bank Tinali on September 7 last, the wife of IRBn personnel today claimed that the statement was half-truth and one sided.

In her counter press statement, she claimed that it was not her husband who started the fight,

but the Traffic Warden who first raised his hand to her husband who was later joined by three more wardens. Admitting that her husband tried to drive through 'No Entry Zone' in order to reach home early as their 4-year-old daughter was unwell, she claimed that when they were stopped her husband tried to explain the situation to the warden by identifying himself as IRBn personnel, but he didn't listen and allegedly pulled the Scooter and knocked her husband down which led to scuffle. She further alleged that she was also assaulted by the wardens when she tried to protect her husband from their attacks. A case against the warden was registered with Women Police Station, Itanagar with WPS case No. 84/16 U/S 354/34 IPC.

Meanwhile, she questioned the authority concerned how come the traffic wardens were empowered to physically charge the traffic violators. While alleging that after the incident she and her husband were gheraoed at police station by the traffic wardens and justifying their actions, she claimed that despite lodging of FIR the police were yet to initiate actions against the wardens.

Doctor teaches students in off time

AALO, Sep 10: At a time when there is hue and cry all over the state on non-staying of government servants in their respective places of posting, Dr. Jumge Padu Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre Yomcha is not only staying focused in his place of posting to cater the medical needs of the Yomcha Sub-division but also playing the role of teacher teaching Biology classes for Class IX and X students of Govt. Higher Secondary school in his off time.

In the absence of Science teachers, the Principal and Vice Principal of the school are getting immense help from such noble gesture and exemplary services from a doctor.

The effort put in by Dr. Padu should set a trend worth emulating especially for the locals of the area who are destined to work with more concern and dedication towards its own people.

Yomcha H.S.School is one of the oldest schools in West Siang district and this school was established at Loum Bango under the leadership of late Gidam Yomgam and late Yomrak Yomcha with the help of late Tamik(Gomik) Dabi of Tene village under present Nari Circle during the British days. DIPRO

Workshop on 'Introduction to Robotics'

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: A one-day workshop on 'Introduction to Robotics' for the student of Rajiv Gandhi University was organized at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the university on September 9.

This workshop was organized to make the students aware about the Robotics in various departments.

A total of 60 participants from different departments of RGU participated in the workshop which was coordinated by Dr. Marpe Sora.

Lok Adalat settles 14 money suits, 3 criminal cases

AALO, Sep 10: The Lok Adalat held in the District Court here on Saturday disposed three criminal compoundable cases and 14 Money Suits involving Rs. 35,86,753 out of the total 58 cases taken up for hearing.

Remaining cases could not be disposed of due absence of victims / complainants /respondents or unwillingness of the party to settle the cases in Lok Adalat. These remaining cases have been referred to next Lok Adalat or regular court. DIPRO

Permanent building for Payeng circle office demanded

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: MLA Punji Mara and Chairperson of Payeng Anchal Samiti block of Upper Subansiri Tadam Haging Cherom on Friday called on the Chief Minister and submitted him a four-point memorandum demanding construction of permanent RCC building for Circle Office at Payeng along with required quarters for the Circle Officer, general administrative staff, bachelor barrack, establishment of 11 KV Power Station at Payeng Circle Headquarters, early completion of Taliha to Tato BRTF road via Payeng circle headquarters within the financial year 2016-17.

Anchal Chairperson along with PRI members of Payeng circle also met the Education Minister and requested him for early construction of 10 teachers' quarter and equal number of bachelor barrack for various Govt. schools under Payeng administrative circle.

Meanwhile, the chairperson informed to the Education Minister assured to look into the demands.

Lok Adalats dispose 95 cases

ITANAGAR, Sep 10: A total of 95 cases were disposed off and Rs. 1,58,18525 was settled in Lok Adalats conducted in various Courts across the state in coordination with Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority on Saturday.

A total of 486 cases were listed across District & Sessions Judge and CJMs in Yupia, Basar, Ziro, Seppa, Khonsa, Daporijo, Aalo, Roing and at DLSA under the DC Anjaw.

Further, the State Authority, Member Secretary, Budi Habung along with Gote Mega, the Additional District & Session Judge, Pasighat and Advocate Tonning Pertin with other Bar members visited the Court Complex and the Pasighat Juvenile Home in connection with the proposed establishment of Legal Aid Clinic in both the centres. They interacted with the Juvenile Home members and informed that the State Authority shall open clinics in both the Court and the Juvenile Home for the welfare of the inmates and the people of the locality.

Clarification

ITANAGAR, Sept 10: Referring to the news regarding airmen recruitment rally which was published in local media on Saturday, the DIPRO, ICCclarified that all eligible candidates irrespective of APST and non-APST can participate in the Indian Air Force recruitment rally scheduled to be held in Itanagar and Tezu on October 1 and 5 respectively to select candidates for Airmen Group X (Technical) and Y (non-technical) jobs. Any interested APST candidate from any district having PRC and non APST candidate having TRC can participate either in the rally to be conducted in Itanagar or Tezu as per their convenience.
